Where do I even begin? Cailin & Victor’s wedding day in September was so great for so many different reasons.
First, the impeccable Cinda Hoege of White Birch Events has a significant place in my heart. She is the first friend I made in this industry as an independent videographer (thanks to Ellyn & Cory – my first paid gig!) and not only is she extremely organized and executes the most gorgeous events – she is incredibly kind. This was my third wedding working with Cinda, and the day went as smoothly as ever. Doesn’t everyone love a smoothly executed and gorgeous day?!
Secondly, this was my first wedding with my new video gear! Last fall, I upgraded from my first camera ever to a Canon C100 Mark II. And let me tell you right now – WHAT. AN. UPGRADE. Switching to Canon’s cinema line from their DSLRs was a hard choice to make, and it’ll take a bit to rebuild the back-of-my-hand familiarity that I had developed with my original camera, but I am already beyond happy with the switch. Slow motion, high definition footage, and a much wider range of options for different lighting scenarios gave me the tools to showcase Cailin & Victor’s love story in a way that I had only dreamt about. (I mean seriously – that slow mo shot of Justin from RadioJacks Band jamming out on the drums? LOVE.)
Lastly, and most importantly, Cailin & Victor were the cutest and most fun couple to work with. Victor describes their love as sincere, honest, and giving – and you can definitely find all of those qualities through their adorable interactions with each other and their sincere self-written vows. Also… their family & friends are AWESOME. This was one of those weddings that I walked away with a huge smile on my face because it was just so much fun. These were beautiful, silly, kind, and all-around awesome people to meet and dance the night away with. To anyone from the wedding who may be reading this — thank you for an incredibly fun experience!
Bonus of working in Charlottesville? I get to stay with my grandma who lives just 40 minutes from the gorgeous Cville wineries. The morning after Cailin & Victor’s wedding, we sat outside on her back porch and talked about life over coffee and breakfast. Growing up, I never spent a lot of time with just my grandma – it was always larger family get togethers around the holidays – so these slow post-wedding mornings spent just the two of us are so, so special to me.
